Silver Eel Sold after 4 Years of Service

After 4 years of service, the FI Ferry’s Silver Eel has been sold to Skyline Charters in Anacortes, WA. It was sold close to its purchase price and trucked across the country in early November.

The vessel was purchased in 2019 with the expectation of providing a daily fast ferry service to the island which had been requested of the Ferry District for years. Unfortunately, while the seasonal weekend fast ferry service to the island was strong and much appreciated, the daily commuter service did not meet expectations.

The Ferry District and its Commissioners would like to thank the Fishers Island community and those who regularly rode the Silver Eel for the opportunity to provide passenger only service.
